Use It Wisely

The IKEA Effect isn't always bad. Channel it on purpose: cook your own meals and you'll value healthy eating more; build your own budget and you'll actually follow it; start a small garden and you'll waste less food. The effort-to-value link works both ways.

Just stay honest. When effort keeps you attached to something that no longer serves you, ask: "Would I start this today if I hadn't already put in the work?" If the answer is no, that's your effort bias talking, not your judgment.
