LESSON 1 · The Promotion Blueprint

The Sponsor Equation

A mentor gives advice. A sponsor puts your name forward when you're not in the room. You can't ask for it directly — you earn it by delivering visible results that make their bet on you obvious.

Find a senior leader whose goals match your strengths. Volunteer for their project, over-deliver, and make your ambitions clear. One sponsor can shift your trajectory more than five mentors combined.

The most common mistake is assuming visibility is your manager's job. It's yours — and a sponsor relationship is built on the proof you supply, not the politics you play.
