The Opening Script
Start with appreciation, then name the level you are already operating at: "I love this role, and I have been taking on responsibilities at the next level. I'd like to talk about making that scope official."
Then stop and let the conversation become concrete. The opening is not where you prove the whole case; it is where you set the frame and invite your manager into the evidence. Avoid words like "deserve" or "fair" — frame everything as business value delivered.
Practice the first 30 seconds aloud. Managers respond better to calm structure than to vibes.
