The Ask Script

The ask should be one clean sentence, not a speech. Use Context, Impact, Ask: "Over the last six months, my scope has moved into senior-level work. The impact is X. I'd like to discuss making that official."

Then be specific: title, level, compensation band, or timeline. A vague ask invites a vague answer. Notice what is missing: apologies, qualifiers, and hedging. Phrases like "I might be wrong, but" weaken your message before you make it. State the request clearly and let the evidence carry the weight.
