LESSON 1 · Manage Energy, Not Time

Know Your Chronotype

Not everyone's internal clock runs on the same schedule. Your chronotype is your genetic leaning toward being a morning or evening person. Sleep specialist Michael Breus describes four main types:

  • Lion (early bird): sharpest from 8 AM to noon, fades by evening
  • Bear: follows the sun, productive mid-morning to early afternoon, the most common type
  • Wolf (night owl): slow mornings, peak energy and creativity after 4 PM
  • Dolphin: light sleeper, variable energy, often peaks mid-morning

Fighting your type with caffeine and alarms works short-term but costs you over time.
