LESSON 2 · First Impressions That Last
Build Your Opening Toolkit
A simple system you can build once and reuse:
- Write three go-to openers — one question, one story, one stat — and memorize them
- Practice the first 15 seconds more than anything else you prepare
- Record and review to catch filler words and throat-clearing
- Match the hook to the audience — data people want stats, creative people want stories
- Land the line, then pause — a confident pause signals control
The aim is not to sound scripted. It is to have a reliable launch pad, so your brain can focus on connecting instead of scrambling for words.
