Presence Is the Foundation
Presence is difficult because it means working against the brain's tendency to wander. When you stay with someone instead of rehearsing your next line, the interaction feels different.

A simple test: after any conversation, ask yourself if you could summarize the other person's main point in one sentence. If you cannot, your attention was probably split. Charismatic people improve this by treating ordinary interactions as worth their full attention.
