Why Most Openers Fail

Most openers fail because they are either too generic or too self-focused. "How are you?" and "So, what do you do?" are not wrong, but they rarely give the other person an easy doorway into something specific.

Good openers do the opposite: they invite a real response instead of a recited one. They reach for emotion, curiosity, or something you both just experienced. The test is simple.
