Read Body Language

Look for groups that leave an opening, not a wall. Someone scanning the room or standing near a shared area may be more open to a new conversation than people turned tightly inward. Treat it as an invitation to test gently, not a guarantee.

Closed signals are equally important to read. Crossed arms, angled-away shoulders, phone-focused attention, and feet pointed toward the exit all say "not now." Respecting these signals is not just polite — it protects your confidence from unnecessary rejection.
