Your Room-Scanning Protocol

Before approaching anyone, spend 60 seconds on this systematic scan:

  • Map the zones — entrance, refreshment area, center, and edges
  • Spot the scanners — people looking around are seeking connection
  • Read group geometry — find outward-angled people in groups of three or more
  • Check body language — uncrossed arms and outward feet mean approachable
  • Find solo people near common areas — they are almost always open

This takes less than a minute and sharply raises your success rate. You stop approaching randomly and start approaching strategically.
