The Problem with Safe Questions
Most questions are built to be safe, and safety produces boring answers. "How was your weekend?" gets "Good, yours?" every time. These closed loops kill conversations because they require no thought and create no emotional investment for either person.

The best questions are slightly uncomfortable — not invasive, but just unexpected enough to make someone pause and think. That pause is the signal that you have moved past autopilot. The person is now engaged, and genuine conversation becomes possible.
