Borrowed Confidence

Bandura's second source of confidence is vicarious learning — watching someone similar to you succeed. This is why role models matter more than heroes.

The similarity factor matters. Watching a polished TED speaker can feel distant. Watching a nervous colleague gradually improve may build more confidence because their success feels reachable: if someone like me can improve, maybe I can too.
