LESSON 4 · Speak Without Fear

The Three-Layer Rehearsal

Effective practice has three layers. Layer one is content rehearsal — knowing your material cold. Layer two is delivery rehearsal — practicing tone, pace, and body language.

Most people stop at layer one and wonder why they still freeze on stage. Knowing your content is necessary but insufficient. Your body needs to rehearse the physical performance separately, and your brain needs rehearsed recovery plans for the moments the script cannot cover.
