Breath Is the Foundation

One fast way to steady your voice under stress is to control your diaphragmatic breathing. When stressed, breathing shifts to the upper chest, leaving too little air pressure for strong speech.

Practice the 4-4-8 pattern: inhale for four counts, hold for four counts, exhale for eight counts. The longer exhale nudges the nervous system toward calm. Two cycles can make your voice feel steadier before a hard sentence.
