Time and the Close
Time management in conversation is a leadership act. Setting time boundaries — "We have fifteen minutes left, so let us prioritize" — signals respect for everyone's schedule and forces the group to focus on what matters rather than debating minor points endlessly.
Close every structured conversation with a clear summary: who is doing what, by when, and what the next checkpoint is. This five-second investment prevents days of confusion. The leader who summarizes and assigns action items is the one who effectively made the decision, regardless of formal authority.
