The Contribution Lens

You do not need a title to lead a conversation. You need the contribution lens — the habit of constantly asking: "What does this group need right now that I can provide?"

Informal leaders emerge by filling gaps, not by claiming space. When the group is stuck, they offer a path forward. When emotions run high, they bring calm. When details drown the big picture, they zoom out.

Start practicing in your next meeting. Scan the room, find the gap, and fill it. Over time, people treat you as the leader — not because you asked, but because you made the group work better.
