What Your Hands Say

Your words travel through one channel. Your hands travel through another. Speakers who gesture with purpose come across as more competent and more believable than speakers who keep their hands locked in place. The audience rarely notices the hands on purpose. They just feel that the message lands.

Visible hands can make communication feel more open because they show less hidden tension. Do not overthink it; keep your hands relaxed and available instead of locked, hidden, or restless.
