Contrast Creates Clarity
Antithesis places two opposing ideas side by side to sharpen both. Kennedy's "Ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country" is the most famous example. The contrast makes the message hard to miss.

Steve Jobs often used silence after a bold claim. The pause gave the audience time to process what they heard and made the next line feel deliberate. Most speakers rush to fill silence before it can do useful work.
