LESSON 3 · Detect Deception
Story Structure Clues
True and fabricated stories can differ in structure. Real memories often include odd sensory details, side observations, and small corrections. Built stories may sound cleaner, but clean does not automatically mean false.

Some deceptive answers give too many details; others give too few. Over-detail can suggest rehearsal, while under-detail can suggest avoidance. Treat both as reasons to ask better follow-ups, not as proof.
