Reading the Signals

No single tell proves a lie. Honest people hedge, ramble, and misremember too. The skill is reading clusters, not isolated words.

Start from a person's normal way of talking, then watch for a sudden cluster of shifts — distancing language, a pile of qualifiers, and a tense slip arriving together in one answer. Several signals stacking up at the exact moment a question gets uncomfortable is what should make you look closer. A clear baseline turns scattered hunches into a pattern you can actually trust.
