Commitment Escalation

Do not ask for full commitment immediately. Use micro-commitments that build toward the big yes:

  • "Can I send you a one-page summary?" (minimal ask)
  • "Would you be open to a 15-minute deep dive?" (small time investment)
  • "Could you introduce me to the decision-maker?" (social investment)
  • "Would you co-sponsor a pilot?" (reputation investment)

Each step is small enough to say yes to, and each yes makes the next more likely through the consistency principle — people want their actions to align with commitments they have already made.
