LESSON 1 · Sound Like a Boss

Swap, Don't Stop

You don't need to become rude. You need better tools. Try these confident replacements:

  • Instead of "Sorry, can I ask something?" say "I have a quick question."
  • Instead of "Sorry I'm late" say "Thank you for waiting."
  • Instead of "Sorry, I don't understand" say "Could you clarify that?"
  • Instead of "Sorry to bother you" say "Do you have a moment?"
  • Instead of "Sorry, but I disagree" say "I see it differently."

The pattern: shift from self-blame to a neutral or positive frame. You stay respectful without casting yourself as the one who did something wrong. Practice one swap per day, starting with the phrase you overuse most.
