LESSON 2 · Sound Like a Boss
Phrases That Open Doors
These are the phrases professionals use to take control of a conversation without being aggressive:
- "Here's what I suggest" — positions you as a problem-solver
- "Let me be direct" — signals honesty and saves everyone's time
- "What I need from you is..." — clear, respectful, impossible to misread
- "I'll take the lead on this" — shows initiative without asking permission
- "The bottom line is..." — cuts through noise and gets to the point
Notice that none of these hedge. Words like "just," "actually," and "kind of" soften your message until it disappears. "I just wanted to check" sounds hesitant.
