Kill the Filler

Every "um," "uh," "like," and "you know" weakens authority. Replace fillers with silence, especially before key points, instead of rushing to fill every pause.

Here is a practical drill: record yourself speaking for 60 seconds on any topic. Count every filler word. Then do it again, trying to cut the count in half. With daily practice, your filler rate can start to drop. Hearing your own fillers is a major part of the cure — once you notice them, you can replace them with pauses.
