Reading the Room First
Authority without awareness is just noise. Before you speak, read the room. Is the group brainstorming or deciding? Match your delivery to the moment. In a brainstorm, authority means asking sharp questions: "What if we tried the opposite approach?" In a decision meeting, it means being direct: "Based on the data, I recommend option B."
Watch cultural signals too. Some teams value consensus building, so a strong opinion too early feels aggressive; others read hedging as weakness. The best communicators adapt their style without changing their substance.
