LESSON 5 · Confidence in Every Word

When Pressure Kills Your English

You speak English perfectly fine at home. Then your boss puts you on the spot in a meeting, a client challenges your proposal, or someone starts an argument, and suddenly your English vanishes. Your mind goes blank.

The reason is simple: stress triggers your fight-or-flight response. Your body shifts into survival mode, and calm, careful word choice is one of the first things to go. The words you need are still in your head, but under pressure your brain struggles to reach them fast enough.
