LESSON 2 · Everyday Expressions & Idioms

Your Phrasal Verb Strategy

Stop memorizing lists. Group by particle instead of verb; learn your "up" phrasal verbs together. Learn in sentences so "look up a word" sticks naturally.

Replace formal verbs in casual writing: "discover" becomes "find out." Listen for new ones in shows, then use them yourself. Phrasal verbs are the difference between textbook English and the English people actually speak. A few weeks of steady practice is all it takes for them to feel automatic.
