LESSON 3 · Travel English Survival Kit

Your Restaurant English Toolkit

Walk into any restaurant with confidence using this flow:

  • Arriving: "Hi, table for two, please" or "I have a reservation under [name]"
  • Drinks: "I'll start with water, please. Could we see the wine list?"
  • Ordering: "I'll have the [dish]. Could I get the dressing on the side?"
  • Questions: "What do you recommend? Is this dish gluten-free?"
  • Problems: "Excuse me, I ordered the pasta, not the risotto"

The key to sounding like a local is confidence, not perfection. Say "I'll have the" with certainty, smile at the server, and you will be treated like a regular no matter how strong your accent is.
