LESSON 3 · Find Your Power Voice

Breathing Through Difficult Moments

The moment your voice starts shaking or rising in pitch, your body has triggered a stress response. Fighting it makes it worse. Instead, use the response as a cue to breathe. Take one full diaphragmatic breath before your next sentence. This brief pause feels eternal to you but sounds confident to listeners.

In confrontational conversations, match your exhale to your sentences. Speak on the exhale, which naturally produces a lower and steadier tone. Inhale during natural pauses. This breathing-speech coordination prevents the shallow chest breathing that makes stress audible.
