Becoming a Story Alchemist

Develop the ability to tell stories that move people physically:

  • Collect moments — pay attention to your life for stories with genuine emotional turning points. Ordinary life contains extraordinary stories.
  • Practice the turn — rehearse the pivotal moment until you can deliver it with perfect vocal contrast.
  • Use present tense — "I walk into the room and see..." creates more immediacy than past tense.
  • Include sensory detail — what did you see, hear, smell, feel?

Building this skill takes deliberate practice, but the results transform how others experience your communication.
