Philosophers have tried several approaches to solve the heap problem. Epistemicists argue there is a precise boundary, but we simply cannot know what it is. One specific grain does change the heap into a non-heap; our ignorance does not mean the line is missing.

Fuzzy logic offers another path. Instead of something being a heap or not, it can be 73% a heap. Supervaluationism says borderline cases are neither true nor false. Each approach has strengths, but none fully resolves the paradox.
