Dunning-Kruger at Work

The Dunning-Kruger effect can explain some frustrating workplace dynamics. A person who volunteers for every project, speaks confidently in every meeting, and dismisses feedback may be miscalibrated about their competence.

Meanwhile, skilled team members may hesitate to speak up because they are aware of how much they do not know. This can create a perverse dynamic where confidence gets more airtime than evidence.
