The Line Everyone Blurs
A fact is a statement that can be verified as true or false through evidence. An opinion is a statement that expresses a belief, judgment, or preference. "Water boils at 100 degrees Celsius at sea level" is a fact.

The blurring happens because opinions are often stated as if they were facts. "This is the best restaurant in the city" sounds factual, but "best" is a judgment. "The economy is doing terribly" sounds factual, but whether it is terrible depends on which metrics you prioritize.
