LESSON 3 · Build an Airtight Argument

Catch Your Own

The toughest fallacies to spot are your own. These self-checks make them visible:

  • Before sharing an article, ask: would I still share this if it contradicted my views?
  • Before you research a question, write down what result would prove you wrong — then see if you flinch from finding it
  • Notice when you judge the same act differently depending on who did it
  • Watch for the urge to explain away every fact that doesn't fit; one or two excuses is normal, a steady stream is a warning
  • Ask a trusted friend to name your most common thinking errors.
