LESSON 4 · Stay Sharp Under Pressure

When the Pause Slips

The pause usually fails in three ways: it disappears under stress, turns into rumination, or becomes time to craft a comeback. Treat each miss as a rep, then return to one quiet beat and one better choice.

The pause creates choice where none existed before. With practice, you stop being a passenger to your reactions and become the driver. Over months, the gap widens naturally — eventually you notice the impulse before it controls you.
