About 75% of participants conformed at least once in Asch's experiments, picking an obviously wrong answer to match the group. These were not gullible people — they were normal adults whose brains prioritized social harmony over accuracy.

The fix is structured dissent: assign someone to formally challenge the consensus, so disagreement becomes part of the process instead of a personal risk.
