Common Deductive Errors
Even people who understand logic make systematic mistakes. Affirming the consequent treats a wet ground as proof of rain, ignoring other causes like sprinklers.

Denying the antecedent is the mirror error: "If rain, then wet ground. No rain, therefore dry ground." Invalid — the sprinkler could still have run. These mistakes feel intuitive, which is exactly what makes them dangerous in real decisions.
