The Logic of Observation
Inductive reasoning works in the opposite direction from deduction. Instead of starting with a general rule and applying it to specifics, you start with specific observations and work toward a general rule.

Seeing 100 white swans gives you a strong inductive conclusion. Seeing a handful does not. Yet most everyday reasoning rests on just a few observations — which is how stereotypes, superstitions, and urban legends form.
