LESSON 2 · Life's Big Crossroads

The Purchase Framework

Turn a hot impulse into a cool decision with four checks:

  • Wait 30 days for any non-essential buy over your threshold. Desire that survives a month without the trigger is real, not impulse.
  • Cost per use — a $200 jacket worn 200 times costs $1 a wear; a $50 one worn 5 times costs $10. Price is not cost.
  • True total cost — add maintenance, insurance, storage, and the money's lost growth elsewhere.
  • Research independently — seek out reviews from people who regret it, not just fans.

The 30-day wait alone kills most impulse buys.
