The Tourist Trap

Here is the trap: you cannot know what a place is truly like until you live in it. A trip only shows you the tourist's version. Visiting Paris is a delight. Living in Paris is paperwork, lonely evenings, and pricey groceries in a language you half-speak. The postcard and the daily reality are two different countries.
