The Role of Diversity
Idea quality improves dramatically with cognitive diversity — different thinking styles, backgrounds, and expertise. A homogeneous group produces variations on the same idea. A diverse group produces genuinely different approaches.

Cross-pollination — applying ideas from one domain to another — is the most reliable source of creative breakthroughs. The primary barrier is resistance: "that is not how we do it." Including outsiders who do not share your assumptions is the fix.
