LESSON 1 · Your Emotional Operating System

Your Body Speaks First

Emotions begin in the body before your conscious mind catches up. Tightness in your chest, a knot in your stomach, heat rising in your face — these are your nervous system flagging something important.

Research from the University of Turku mapped where people feel specific emotions. Anger surges through the upper body — head, chest, and arms. Anxiety concentrates in the chest. Sadness drains the limbs, and love warms the torso.
