LESSON 1 · Tame the Anxiety Monster

Social Anxiety

Social anxiety is not shyness. Shy people feel uncomfortable but push through. Socially anxious people experience genuine fear — their brain treats social interaction as a threat to survival.

The core fear is judgment. Every appearance, word, and gesture feels scrutinized. The cruel paradox: the harder they try to appear normal, the more self-conscious and awkward they become.

After every interaction the brain runs a post-mortem. Did I say something stupid? Did they notice I was nervous? This replay loop can continue for hours or days after a brief conversation.
