LESSON 3 · Tame the Anxiety Monster

The Most Tested Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy — CBT — is one of the most researched and evidence-supported forms of psychotherapy. Controlled trials support its use for anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD, insomnia, and other conditions, though fit and delivery still matter.

What sets CBT apart is its focus on present-day patterns. It does not require years of digging through childhood before you can start working with thoughts and behaviors.

Its core idea is deceptively simple: events affect you, and your interpretation of events shapes the emotional response that follows. Two people can face the same situation and react in completely different ways, because each one filters it through a different mental lens.
