LESSON 3 · Burnout: Recognize, Recover, Prevent
Recovery Is Not Rest
The most common advice for burnout is some version of "take a break." Go on vacation. Sleep more. Practice self-care. Rest is necessary, but it is not enough. Burnout recovery is an active process. It requires changing the conditions that caused the burnout, not just escaping them for a while.
Think of a broken leg. The treatment is not only bed rest. You need the bone set, therapy to rebuild strength, and a training plan that won't cause the same injury again.
Real recovery has three phases: emergency stabilization, structural repair, and sustainable rebuilding. Skip any of them and you relapse.
