LESSON 3 · Escape Toxic Patterns
Why Boundaries Feel Wrong
Setting a boundary feels selfish. Saying no feels mean. Protecting your time and energy feels like letting people down. These feelings are strong, consistent, and completely misleading.
Boundaries are not walls built to keep people out. They are guidelines that define how you allow yourself to be treated. They say what is acceptable and what is not — clearly, respectfully, and without apology. Every healthy relationship depends on them.
Boundaries feel wrong because many people were taught — out loud or by example — that their needs come last. Good children do not say no. Good partners accommodate. Good employees do not push back.
