Horsemen Antidotes
Each destructive pattern has a specific antidote. For criticism, swap "you always" for "I feel" statements. For contempt, deliberately tip the balance toward appreciation — the 5-to-1 habit. For defensiveness, take responsibility for even a small part of the problem — "You're right, I did forget" disarms the whole dynamic. For stonewalling, self-soothe and ask for a structured break.
These are skills, not personality traits. Spot the horseman that shows up most in your conflicts, and work on that one antidote for a month before moving to the next. Incremental progress beats ambitious failure.
