LESSON 1 · Boundaries That Protect Love

The Boundary Paradox

Boundaries and walls look alike from outside but do opposite jobs. A boundary protects closeness with self-respect; a wall blocks closeness from unprocessed fear.

People raised without boundaries often swing between two extremes: no boundaries at all (people-pleasing, over-giving, burning out) or rigid walls disguised as boundaries. Neither works. Healthy boundaries are flexible, specific, and communicated with warmth — not ultimatums.
