The Familiarity Principle

You're more attracted to people who look subtly familiar. Research shows we're drawn to faces that share features with our own or with people we grew up around.

More controversially, some research suggests we may be drawn to partners who resemble our opposite-sex parent. The evidence is mixed, but the proposed mechanism isn't Freudian weirdness — it's pattern recognition. Your brain tends to equate familiar features with safety, and that early imprint may quietly shape who you find attractive for years.
