Flirting is Communication

Flirting gets dismissed as shallow, but it serves a deep function: it communicates desire without demand. A playful text. A compliment delivered with a look. A touch that lingers a beat longer than necessary.

Without flirting, partners begin to see each other only through domestic roles — co-parent, co-manager, roommate. Flirting reminds both of you that underneath the responsibilities, there are still two people who want each other. That reminder has more power than most people realize.
